Supporting the NHS in helping to beat the Cornavirus
Back at the end of March, just before lockdown, Weatherfield’s took a call from the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH). They had a request and wanted to know if we could supply a number of marquees quickly, to which our answer was, yes of course.
We carried out a site visit that very afternoon and answered all of the questions asked. Within 24 hours we were given the green light and timescale they needed the marquees to be in place by and ready to use.
We erected six 6m x 6m frame marquees with ballast, as these were all to be on hard standing ground. Their purpose was to provide cover for one of Norfolk’s drive through Covid – 19 testing centres.

We spent the morning before loading the equipment in preparation to be on site for 9am the next day as promised. We built all six frames firstly, which allowed for us to space each marquee inch perfect, ready for 23 ton of ballast to arrive. This may seem a lot of weight, but due to the exposed location we thought it best to be extra safe.
Once this was all in position we were able to put the covers on and ratchet down each marquee to its ballast.
Over the next few days various barriers and external signage were installed to guide people, that required a test, to their given testing station along with table, chairs and bins for those key workers doing the testing to use.
